SMD coil formers are surface-mount winding bodies for compact transformer and magnetic component assemblies. They are designed for automated PCB assembly and reflow soldering depending on material and variant.
Depending on the variant, NORWE uses PPS torA504, PA46 TE 250 F6, PA66 A3X2G10, PA66 eg7 and special materials such as radiation cross-linked thermoplastics on request.
fm versions typically use gull-wing terminals, fu versions use U-shaped solder pins with separated winding and soldering sides, and LP versions are low-profile all-plastic versions without metal solder contacts.
U-shaped solder pins separate the winding and soldering side. This enables automatic winding and soldering without tin wetting of the later SMD contact surface.
Pick and Place caps create a defined top surface for automated placement of SMD transformer assemblies on printed circuit boards.
Radiation cross-linking helps preserve mechanical properties under short high thermal peak loads during high-temperature soldering processes and can reduce breakage risk.
